Liturgical Dance Workshops

The foundation of any liturgical dance ministry must first be rooted in a personal relationship with God. Spending time with God in daily prayer enables us to draw our inspiration for choreography from the Holy Spirit. We must give honor and glory to God through our dance. Reading the Bible, praying daily, and listening to prayerful music each day has helped me in my ministry to become closer to the Lord.

Everyone can do liturgical dance — from the very young to the elders of a congregation. Prior dance experience is helpful but not necessary. What is required is a heart-felt desire to worship God through movement. I offer workshops to those who want to learn the basics of liturgical dance. The following are some of the topics I cover:

	Personal prayer life
	Scriptural references to dance
	Dancing with streamers and flags
	Liturgical Seasons
	Liturgically appropriate times to dance
	Appropriate dance apparel
	Choreography

Here are some observations made regarding my ministry:

“May 30th, 2004 Duke University Chapel Service. The service was very grand! We received many compliments on the streamers. Neither the pictures or video adequately reflect how fabulous it all looked that day. At least two people told me it really looked like flames of fire as the youth stood at the front of the Chapel.
